Day of the Dead and Chess - At the end of the game
Mexico is once again the world protagonist of the Transverse Culture of Chess, hosting the fourth festival of the First International EXPOCHESS Tour "Chess and Art of the World". This festival offers the visiting public, in addition to its successful exhibitions of international art, multiple cultural and social activities related to Chess as it has already happened in the three previous venues of this first edition of 2018: Venezuela, Chile and Colombia.
EXPOCHESS MEXICO 2018 began on Monday, October 29 at the UAM Xochimilco, Mexico City with the inauguration of exhibitions of works of art with the theme of "Day of the Dead and Chess". It is a unique collection in the world and unrepeatable that will remain exposed until December 06, 2018.
With these activities of the "Day of the Dead and Chess" we intend to show our admiration and respect for the cultures of the countries participating in EXPOCHESS, through the special meaning that this celebration has for the Mexican people with the art of Chess as a link with the rest of the world cultures. For this, dozens of Mexican artists will offer their artistic works imbued with feelings of fraternity; with members of the Cuarto de Luna Collective and the Sarukaku art studio. This intercultural fraternity will also be reflected in the works of the other international artists who participate in the exhibitions, such as the Basque Mikel Garate, the German ElkeRehder and the Colombian Mónica Savdié (2). We thank the Delegation of the Basque Government in Mexico for its great support with its slogan "EUSKADI BASQUE COUNTRY".
In the Jesús Verchez Auditorium, the coordinator Roberto Padilla addressed some words of welcome to the attendees and especially to the participants in the International EXPOCHESS project. Next, David Sierra, President of EXPOCHESS, gave a lecture on the EXPOCHESS project and all its activities extolling the value of art as a vehicle for intercultural union in the UAM Xochimilco (CDMX). The presentation ceremony ended with a few words from the local organization of EXPOCHESS, by the members of the organization in Mexico about what it means for their groups to be members and participants in this global project and their contribution to EXPOCHESS MEXICO.
