Interview with Marcelino Sión Castro, Director of Magistral Ciudad de León, by José Manuel Sierra Lozano, Director of EXPOCHESS.

On this occasion, Marcelino Sión shows us and comments on the various activities that have made up the 2022 Magistral Ciudad de León chess festival:

-The two Open Tournaments of rapid and semi-rapid games, both won by the Brazilian Grand Master Alexandr Fier; with great participation success.
-Chess in the street with Rey Enigma, Sabrina Vega, Pepe Cuenca, Divis, the students of "Pequeños Gigantes"... playing on the giant boards.
-Joaquín Espejo's conference on the World Cup in Seville between Karpov and Kasparav (1987 Simultaneous by Andrey Esipenko and the “Magic of Chess” offered by Xulio Merino before the start of the Master's games).
-Gélfand champion of the Ciudad de León Magistral Tournament. On this occasion, the intergenerational struggle has been promoted in which the seniority of Vishy Anand and Boris Gélfand has prevailed over the youth of Andrey Esipenko and Jaime Santos; with comments, curiosities and anecdotes.
